2009 MTV Video Music Award Winners

Kanye West stole the show this year at the VMAs with his rude interruption of Taylor Swift's Best Female Video acceptance speech. Coverage of the Kanye incident overshadowed a moving tribute to Michael Jackson from Madonna and Janet Jackson's awesome dance performance. Here is a list of the winners with links to the music videos.

Michael Phelps to Present at VMAs

VMAs 2008 LogoMultiple gold medal winning swimmer Michael Phelps will be a presenter at the upcoming VMAs.
The swimmer who took home a record-breaking eight gold medals from the Beijing Games joins Miley Cyrus, Scarlett Johansson, Lindsay Lohan and Ciara as presenters at the Sept. 7 VMAs telecast from Los Angeles. British comedian Russell Brand will host.

It's been a busy week for Phelps, who announced he'll write a book about his road to Olympic history (to be released in time for the holidays) and plans to host the season premiere of "Saturday Night Live." On Thursday, Phelps was in New York City, filming a cameo for the HBO series "Entourage," and on Friday, he celebrated with a parade at Walt Disney World in Florida.

Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale and Corbin Bleu of the "High School Musical" franchise will also present at the VMAs, as will "Twilight" actors Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, MTV said Thursday.
Busy Phelps will also be hosting the season premiere of SNL. We know Britney Spears is not going to be performing but there are still some unanswered questions. Like who is Katy Perry going to kiss? It can't be Phelps because it has to be a girl.

Buzz about Britney Spears and the 2008 VMAs

Britney VMAs 2007We know Britney Spears will attend MTV's Video Music Awards because she is up for two awards. We also know she taped a promo for the awards with her and an elephant. The L.A. Times Gold Derby blog reports that the issue of whether Britney Spears will still perform is up in the air. However, the Times does remind us that Britney's miserable performance in 2007 was a ratings boom for MTV.
While appearing with a 900-pound elephant, nobody can call Britney Spears fat again when she's doing a MTV gig.

But that is Britney's costar on the TV screen while dishing with Russell Brand, the little-known British comic who's hosting the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards. It's one of the cheeky promos teasing the Sept. 7 event.

At one point Brand suggests that there is sexual tension between them, but Britney shrugs, "I didn't feel any tension." Wait . . . that supposed to be hilarious, right?

And wait again. Does this mean that Britney will be performing again at the crazy kudofest?
The question is does MTV wan't a ratings boom again? That answer has to be yes and Britney would no doubt like to redeem her troubled performance in 2007.
