    Primetime Emmy Award Winners Announced

The winners of the Primetime Emmy Awards were announced Sunday. Everybody Loves Raymond and Lost picked up top awards. Winners actors and actresses included Tony Shalhoub, James Spader, Felicity Huffman and Patricia Arquette. MSNBC.com has a write-up about the show.
Everybody loved Raymond one more time, honoring the show Sunday as best comedy series for its final season. That denied the prize to newcomer Desperate Housewives while giving best drama honors to another first-year hit, Lost.

"All year long they've been asking us, 'Do you think, now that your show is going, is this the end of the sitcom?'" said Everybody Loves Raymond executive producer Phil Rosenthal. "I want to say, yes. Beyond that, it's the end of laughing and the end of smiling."

Felicity Huffman and Patricia Arquette became first-time Emmy winners as they received lead actress honors while Tony Shalhoub and James Spader once again proved favorites in the best actor category.
First-time Emmy Award Winner Felicity Huffman graciously thanked her Desperate Housewives co-stars:
"I've turned into one of those actresses and I'm sorry," Huffman, who plays an overwhelmed homemaker on ABC’s Desperate Housewives, said as she teared up at the start of her acceptance speech.

She thanked "the women of Wisteria Lane," her co-stars Marcia Cross and Teri Hatcher - also nominees in the category - and Nicollette Sheridan and Eva Longoria.
For more information about the winners E Online has a complete scorecard listing all the winners and the TV Squad blog live blogged the award show here.

    Primetime Emmy Award Nominees Announced

Nominations have been announced for the 57th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. The Life and Death of Peter Sellers and took the lead with 16 each. They were followed by Desperate Housewives and Will and Grace with 15. Everybody Loves Raymon had 13 nominations and Lost had 12. E Online says the Emmy Noms look "desperate."
Desperate Housewives, TV's most watched new series of the 2004-05 season, now becomes TV's most nominated series in the race for the 57th Annual Primetime Emmys. It is a title shared with NBC's Will & Grace, which despite declining ratings scored nods for all of its stars (save Debra Messing), and several of its game stunt-casting participants. Only the HBO made-for-TV movies, The Life and Death of Peter Sellers and Warm Springs, hoarded more nominations--16 each--as the award-show field was announced at a predawn press conference in North Hollywood, California.

Though not short on drama, ABC's suburbia-skewering Housewives is competing as a comedy. As such, stars Marcia Cross, Teri Hatcher and Felicity Huffman will vie for Lead Comedy Series Actress honors against Everybody Loves Raymond's Patricia Heaton, a past winner, and Malcolm in the Middle's Jane Kaczmarek, a six-time nominee.
