Carrie Underwood Dominates CMT Music Awards

Carrie UnderwoodCarrie Underwood was the big winner at this year's CMT Music Awards. Underwood's hit song "Before He Cheats" won video of the year and female video. It also received the best video director for director Roman White. Comedian Jeff Foxworthy was the host of this year's show. Here is a list of this year's winners.

Annual Academy of Country Music Awards Nominees Announced

Nominations are in for the Annual Academy of Country Music Awards. Here is a list of some of the country musicians receiving multiple nominations.
  • This morning George Strait led with eight nominations, including Entertainer of the Year and Top Male Vocalist. In addition Strait was nominated as artist and producer for both Album of the Year for 'It Just Comes Natural' and Single Record of the Year for "Give It Away" along with nods for Song of the Year for "Give It Away" and Video of the Year for "Seashores of Old Mexico." Strait has previously won 15 Academy of Country Music Award honors.

  • Brooks & Dunn are nominated for seven awards including Entertainer of the Year, Top Vocal Duo, Album of the Year for 'Hillbilly Deluxe,' Video of the Year for "Hillbilly Deluxe," and Vocal Event of the Year for "Building Bridges" with Vince Gill and Sheryl Crow. They have previously been awarded 21 Academy of Country Music Awards as a duo, with Ronnie Dunn having received 22 Academy of Country Music Awards in total.

  • Ronnie Dunn of Brooks & Dunn is nominated in seven categories as part of Brooks & Dunn (see above) and also has additional solo nomination in the Vocal Event of the Year category for "I Don't Want To" with Ashley Monroe.

  • Rascal Flatts are nominated in six categories, including Entertainer of the Year, Top Vocal Group, Album of the Year for 'Me and My Gang,' and Single Record of the Year for "What Hurts the Most." They have previously been awarded six Academy of Country Music Awards.

  • Carrie Underwood has five nominations including Top Female Vocalist, Album of the Year for 'Some Hearts,' along with Single Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Video of the Year all for "Before He Cheats." She was awarded two Academy of Country Music Awards last year-Top New Female and Single Record of the Year-in her first year to ever be nominated for a country music award.

  • Big & Rich received four nominations including Top Vocal Duo, Video of the Year for "8th of November" and for Vocal Event of the Year for "That's How They Do It In Dixie," with Hank Williams Jr., Gretchen Wilson and Van Zant.

  • John Rich has an additional nomination for producing Gretchen Wilson's single, "Politically Uncorrect" which brings his total to five nominations.

  • Vince Gill, Josh Turner and Gretchen Wilson all received three nominations. Vince Gill received nods for both artist and producer for Album of the Year for 'These Days,' and Vocal Event of the Year for "Building Bridges." Josh Turner is nominated for Single Record of the Year and Song of the Year for "Would You Go With Me," and Vocal Event of the Year for "Me and God." Gretchen Wilson is nominated for Vocal Event of the Year for both "Politically Uncorrect" and "That's How They Do It In Dixie," for the former, she receives an additional producing nod.
  • Winners will receive their awards during a star-studded event to be broadcast from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at 8:00 PM live ET/delayed PT on the CBS Television Network.

    Country Music Award Winners Announced

    Brooks and DunnThe winners of the 40th annual Country Music Awards (2006 CMAs) have been announced. Brooks & Dunn won three awards including Single of the Year for "Believe." Here is a list of this year's winners. Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood won two awards each. Brooks & Dunn and Brad Paisley had lead the nominees with six nominations each. The awards show was also hosted by Brooks & Dunn this year. Here is a list of the winners.

    Keith Urban Won't Appear at CMAs

    The Washington Post reports that country star Keith Urban will not be at this year's CMA awards.
    Keith Urban, who checked himself into a rehabilitation treatment center last week for alcohol abuse, will not appear at the Country Music Association awards next month, his spokesman said Monday.

    The 40th Annual CMA Awards will air Nov. 6 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.

    Urban is nominated in the two categories he won last year: entertainer of the year and best male vocalist. He's also up for best single, "Better Life," and song of the year, for co-writing "Tonight I Wanna Cry."

    The Grammy-winning country singer released a statement Friday that said he entered rehab Thursday night with his wife, actress Nicole Kidman, by his side. His publicist would not give the location of the rehab center.
    Keith Urban entered rehab last week. He is just four months into a marriage with actress Nicole Kidman.

    George Strait Heads CMA Lineup

    UPI reports that Country Music Awards have announced a lineup that will be led by country star George Strait.
    The CMA announced Monday the performance lineup includes Strait, Kenny Chesney, Dierks Bently and Gretchen Wilson.

    The CMA gala will take place Nov. 6 at the Gaylord Entertainment Center and will be hosted by the duo Brooks and Dunn, who will also perform along with Rascal Flats and Alan Jackson.

    39th Annual CMA Award Winners Announced

    The winners of the 39th Annual CMA Awards were announced in a live broadcast on CBS. Keith Urban was named Entertainer of the Year and also won his his second consecutive CMA Male Vocalist award. Lee Ann Womack won three CMA Awards for Album, Single and Musical Event of the Year. Womack said, "If you listen to music that doesn't touch you or mean anything to you, listen to Country Music. We have songs that speak to you and songs that will touch you." Here is a complete list of the winners.
