Early Buzz on Best Picture

The L.A. Times Gold Derby blog has listed some of the possibilities for Best Picture this year. Remember, the changes to the category mean ten films will be nominated this year. Gold Derby says these 12 films are the favorites to be nominated.

Inglourious Basterds
Invictus
The Lovely Bones
Nine
Precious
The Road
A Serious Man
Up
Up in the Air

It would be good to see District 9 and Star Trek nominated. Science fiction fans will feel snubbed if Avatar gets in but one or both of these films does not. Gold Derby does have them as "possibilities."
